COLUMBIA (WACH) - Hearing impaired students at Brennen Elementary School had a special visitor Tuesday morning.

Santa Claus visited the school and used sign language to communicate with students about his reindeer and sleigh. He also sang Christmas songs and read "The Night Before Christmas" before handing out gift bags containing items each student had wished for.

The visit was sponsored by the Richland Sertoma Club, which caters to children with speech and hearing imparirments.

"It's just such a joy to us that we can actually do something that mkes the children interact with each other and with an adult and just bring some joy in the kid's life," said Jacke Sterne, Richland Sertoma Club President.

Sterne says the event is in its eighth year at the school.
