PELION, SC (WACH) - Authorities say Pelion High School was temporarily evacuated Friday as a precaution.

A spokesperson with the Lexington County School District One says an object that was determined by law enforcement to be a training grenade in a military box was found on campus by a teacher.

Administrators evacuated the school using a fire drill, according to officials. The students were outside for around an hour before returning inside the building.

Emergency responders say there was never any danger to students or staff.
