GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- A Greer man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the death of his 5-month-old daughter.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins says 44-year-old Daron Davis was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to homicide by child abuse.

Davis was arrested in 2011 after his daughter's death. Authorities say the girl had multiple head injuries and had been shaken.

Davis also pleaded guilty to homicide by child abuse in Spartanburg County in 1996 in the death of his 11-month-old daughter. He said at the time he didn't kill the child, but did grab her by the head.

Davis was sentenced to the minimum of 20 years in prison and would have been eligible for parole after five years. He served 11 years.
