Richland County honors citizen heroes

COLUMBIA (WACH)- A special group of citizens were recognized for their good deeds Thursday courtesy of the Richland County Sheriff's Department.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott recognized a group of citizens who at various times, intervened in crimes as to stop offenders from getting away with their crimes.

The citzens were honored for actions such as writing down license numbers of getaway cars from armed robberies to intervening in assaults.
 
One of the citizens who garnered the most attention from the media was Mujahidinna Khaliq, who stopped a man from sexually assaulting a 10 year old girl on Halloween night.
