CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- An aquarium in Charleston is helping care for some sick and injured sea turtles from New England.

The Sea Turtle Rescue Program at the South Carolina Aquarium on Wednesday took on 10 sea turtles that had been found suffering from cold stunning, which is similar to hypothermia and happens when water temperatures drop below 50 degrees.

The new patients come to South Carolina from The New England Aquarium's Animal Care Center. That facility has taken on 100 new turtles recently, and officials say they need help caring for them.

Ten sea turtles were flown down to the Charleston aquarium on Wednesday from the Boston area by a pilot who donated the flight.
