Charleston deputy hurt in Edisto Island crash

EDISTO ISLAND, S.C. (AP) -- A Charleston County sheriff's deputy has been seriously injured in crash on Edisto Island

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the single-vehicle crash that happened at around 6 a.m. Friday.

Sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady says the deputy was just ending his shift when he crashed on Highway 174.

Brady says the deputy was airlifted from the scene with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The deputy's name has not been released.
