COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The director of South Carolina's Medicaid agency sent another warning to state senators that costs for the health insurance program will likely keep rising.

Department of Health and Human Services Director Tony Keck told a Senate panel Wednesday that changes in federal health care laws likely mean about 200,000 more people will join the 1 million adults and children in the state already using Medicaid.

Keck asked lawmakers last month for an additional $194 million for his agency. He told members of the Medical Affairs Committee that he knows he won't get all that money because it is all the extra revenue the state is projected to get next year.

But Keck says he made the request to make the point that changes must be made to Medicaid.
