Suspect wanted for stealing more than $100,000 worth of lawn care equipment

COLUMBIA (WACH)-  The Richland County Sheriff's Department is seeking a suspect in the theft of more than $100,000 worth of lawn care equipment.

Richland County Sheriff's spokesman Curtis Wilson says Floyd Gholson, 33, is wanted for motor vehicle theft and theft from a motor vehicle.


Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said that between 8:20 PM on Monday, September 17, 2012 and 5:30 AM Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 7426 Fairfield Road,Gholson and an accomplice broke into a lawn-care business.  A tip given to investigators implicated Gholson in this crime. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the victim said the entrance gates which are usually locked were wide open when he arrived. Deputies observed that the gates were forced open to the business and Gholson and his accomplice stole items listed below:

 

·       Lawn mower tools

·       White 2012 Chevy C3500 Truck 

·       Two mowers

·       Trailer

·       Six Sthil String Trimmers

·       Six Sthil Backpack Blower

·       Sthil Edger FC

·       Four Stihil Hand Shears

·       Two Husqvarna Chain Saws

 

Total estimated value of missing items $104,639.05

 

Sheriff Leon Lott said that the stolen truck and trailer were located on Bookman Loop near Monticello Road during an active search by investigators. Sheriff Leon Lott asks that anyone with information, on the location of the Smith and Gholson (still images are attached to this release) or about this crime, should call Crimestoppers at 1-888-CrimeSC.
