CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Charleston officials investigating a rash of suspicious fires in the city during the past decade say they have made an arrest in at least one of the fires but they also say the investigation is far from over.

More than 80 fires have been attributed to arson since 2000, most in an area of houses where college students rent apartments.

On Monday, Police Chief Greg Mullen announced 55-year-old Kenny Boone of Charleston was arrested over the weekend and charged with one arson in Charleston and two in the nearby community of Hollywood. He's also been charged with trying to solicit another person to commit arson.

Boone is in jail on a $225,000 bond and it could not immediately be determined if he had an attorney.
