"I Scored the winning touchdown in the game. Actually it was the first touchdown of the game that I scored but we won 24-20 and a touchdown is worth six point so that's the winning td isn't it," adds Howard.  / Rob Starkey

CLEMSON, SC (WACH) - Jimmy Howard is a fixture in Clemson.  Howard is the son of coaching legend Frank Howard a man Jimmy says was an all around good guy.

"He was 100% Clemson and he had a great sense of humor," says Jimmy Howard.

The Field at Memorial Stadium is named Frank Howard field.

Jimmy says having his alma mater field named after his dad wasn't a big deal, but seeing the impact his father had on players was something special.

Jimmy played ball at Clemson on his dad's teams from 1961-1963 and remembers many heated games with South Carolina.

Howard recalls one on Thanksgiving Day that he'll never forget.

"I Scored the winning touchdown in the game. Actually it was the first touchdown of the game that I scored but we won 24-20 and a touchdown is worth six point so that's the winning td isn't it," adds Howard.

Another symbol of Jimmy's father at Memorial stadium is Howard's Rock; the well known tradition prior to games at Death Valley was a gift to the late coach. Players rub the rock to gain its supposed magical powers and Tiger fans hope that will lead them to victory over South Carolina this year.

Howard is still an active supporter of Clemson sports and owns a tavern in downtown Clemson the Sloan Street Tap-Room.
