SUMTER, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman shopping at a convenience store in Sumter spotted the woman who tried to kidnap her daughter two days before.

Sumter police arrested 41-year-old Wanda Grinnell on Wednesday and charged her with attempted kidnapping.

A woman called police Monday and said someone tried to take her 2-year-old daughter from her yard, but left when she saw the mother. The woman called police Wednesday when she saw the suspect at the store.

Investigators didn't say why Grinnell tried to kidnap the girl.

Grinnell is awaiting a bond hearing at the Sumter County jail. It wasn't known if she had a lawyer.
