ORANGEBURG (WACH/AP) -- South Carolina State University is honoring veterans with a celebration.

The Orangeburg school on Friday is holding its Annual Veterans Day Recognition Program.

Retired Lt. Gen. Arthur J. Gregg is scheduled to give a keynote address. The Florence native enlisted in the U.S. Army at age 17 and rose to the rank of three-star general.

Gregg retired from active management in 1996 but chairs three boards and also served as the honorary colonel of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Regiment. He served in two wars and held key U.S. Army Quartermaster command assignments in the U.S., Korea, Japan, Europe and Vietnam.

The Veterans Day National Ceremony is held each year on November 11th at Arlington National Cemetery .  The ceremony is intended to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.
