LADSON, S.C. (AP) -- Police say a number of people were involved in a weekend fight at the Coastal Carolina Fair outside Charleston that sent one man to the hospital with stab wounds.

Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Jim Brady says the fight late Saturday night was the only major disturbance since the fair opened Oct. 27. Brady says about 15 people were involved in the fight.

Eighteen-year-old David Jackson was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital for treatment of stab wounds to the thigh and abdomen. His wounds were not considered life-threatening.

Officials say nearly 60,000 people attended the fair Saturday, about 50 percent more than the usual Saturday attendance. Fair spokesman Joe Bolchoz says occasional fighting is unavoidable when thousands of people jam together.
