COLUMBIA (WACH) - Police say a man made a threatening phone call to a daycare in Columbia Thursday prompting a temporary evacuation of the center.

A spokesperson with the Columbia Police Department says a man is accused  of calling Cooper's Child Development Center on Sampson Circle saying he would go there and harm a worker, her car and the children inside of the daycare.

Police are investigating the possibility of the caller making reference to an explosive device.

Officers say the children have been moved to a safe location as a precaution. No child has been harmed.

According to authorities, the daycare center is in the process of notifying parents and caregivers, who will have the option of picking up their children.

The police are working to locate the suspect.
