CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- It's been another good year for Charleston's Digital Corridor, a public-private partnership started more than a decade ago to attract and nurture high-tech software and other tech businesses.
There are now more than 90 member companies of the corridor, started by the city of Charleston. A survey of those members released this week reported all those companies hired new workers in the past year and 73 percent plan to hire more workers by year's end.
The average salaries are almost $67,000, well above the regional and state average.
Corridor Executive Director Ernest Andrade says it has started to bring in higher paying jobs. Andrade says while property values were rapidly rising, salaries were relatively low because much of the city's economy is based on tourism.
