A 39-year-old Orangeburg man has died after he was crushed by a weightlifting bar while exercising by himself.

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A 39-year-old Orangeburg man has died after he was crushed by a weightlifting bar while exercising by himself.
Authorities told the Times and Democrat of Orangeburg that family members of Joseph Williams Jr. found him unconscious under about 500 pounds of weight Saturday afternoon.
Deputies say firefighters were able to pull the weight bar off Williams' chest, but paramedics determined he was already dead.
The coroner's office says Williams couldn't breathe under all the weight.
