Chinese Film Festival takes over USC

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The University of South Carolina is hosting its third annual Chinese Film Festival with a focus on China's female filmmakers.

The event is sponsored by the Confucius Institute and the Moving Image Research Collections.

Topics include films about Chinese women, new female filmmakers and the female identity on the Chinese screen.

Films are being shown in McMaster College at 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Friday through Sunday.

All events are free and open to the public.

The films are part of a collection undertaken by the Confucius Institute.
