Vice President Joe Biden has attended a vigil for Peatsy Hollings, the wife of former U.S. Sen. Ernest Hollings who died over the weekend of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden has attended a vigil for Peatsy Hollings, the wife of former U.S. Sen. Ernest Hollings who died over the weekend of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
The vice president is a close friend of the Hollings family. He made a brief visit late Tuesday, arriving at a Charleston funeral home and meeting with the family.
Biden didn't make any public statements and left after the vigil.
Earlier in the day, Biden had attended the funeral service for former Pennsylvania U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter.
