COLUMBIA (WACH)-- In its fourth year, Carolina Kick Off for a Cure is supporting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation by combining two of the Gamecock Nation's favorite pastimes: food and football.

Cystic Fibrosis also known as CF, is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults in the US.  CF causes the body to produce abnormally thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and can lead to life-threatening lung infections.  The CF mucus also obstructs the pancreas, interfering with digestion. There is currently no cure for CF and the median life expectancy is 37.4 years of age.

The annual event will be held October 13th at The Zone in Williams Brice Stadium during the South Carolina Gamecocks vs. LSU Tigers football game. Coach Chad Holbrook of the USC Gamecocks Baseball will be the events special guest of honor.

Tickets are $55 and include beer and wine in addition to all-you-can-eat food provided by several of Columbia’s favorite local restaurants. Both a silent and live auction will be held.

For sponsorship opportunities or to purchase tickets, please contact Ginny Lioon at 843-388-5968 or vlioon@cff.org or visit our website at www.carolinakickoff.com
