The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in Anderson in which two children were hit by a truck at a bus stop.

ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating an accident in Anderson in which two children were hit by a truck at a bus stop.

Lance Cpl. Bill Rhyne tells WSPA-TV that a pickup truck hit the students Thursday morning while they were waiting at a bus stop in Anderson County.

School Superintendent Mason Gary says the students are a 1st grader and a 3rd grader from Starr Elementary School.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. near Highway 29.

The children were taken to a hospital for a checkup. There was no immediate word on their injuries or on possible charges.
