ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Authorities say they have charged an Elloree man with involuntary manslaughter after he waited for more than 12 hours to call for help for his unconscious girlfriend.

An arrest warrant says 55-year-old Herbert Jones Jr. knocked 44-year-old Angie Mullins to the floor last week as the two fought.

Authorities told The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg that the fall left Mullins unconscious and Jones waited for at least 12 hours before calling a relative for help. The relative then called 911.

Investigators say Mullins died two days later without regaining consciousness. An autopsy found she died from a massive brain injury.

Police say Mullins was in poor health before the fall.

It wasn't clear if Jones had an attorney.
