LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A woman returning to her home near Irmo Wednesay morning interrupted a man accused of trying to steal items from her home, according to Lexington County Sheriff's Department detectives.
Sheriff James R. Metts says Tyree Laquon Lucas, 22, of Gaston was arrested Wednesday on a charge of second-degree burglary.
Authorities say Lucas is accused of breaking into a home on Hillsborough Street around 10 a.m. Wednesday with the intent to steal items from the home.
Metts says the homeowner interrupted the burglary when she returned home, preventing Lucas from stealing anything.
According to Metts, the arrest warrant says the homeowner saw Lucas exit her home and drive away in a black Nissan Xterra SUV. She provided detectives with the license plate number for the vehicle, which is registered to Lucas' stepfather.
Metts says Lucas was later identified as a suspect and arrested.
Lucas was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center and held on a $15,000 bond.
Metts asks anyone with information about the incident to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
