ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- A grievance panel has upheld last month's firing of Anderson Police Chief Martin Brown.
More than 200 people attended the Wednesday hearing. The panel deliberated behind closed doors for about 25 minutes before upholding the firing.
Brown said that City Manager John Moore undermined his authority as police chief and met secretly with officers from the department. Moore countered with statements from current and former officers portraying Brown as a dictator subject to rages.
Brown had asked the grievance committee to recommend he be reinstated as police chief for a specific period of time but didn't say how long he wanted to keep the job.
He retired after working for 30 years for the FBI before taking the Anderson job six years ago.
