COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Federal nuclear regulators are meeting with Duke Energy officials about apparent violations at a South Carolina plant that lost offsite power in April.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission is holding a conference Tuesday in Atlanta on the Catawba Nuclear Station, which is located on Lake Wylie in York County. The public is invited.

One of the station's two reactors automatically shut down when the facility lost offsite power. Generators took over until power was restored. Duke Energy officials have said no one was in danger.

According to the NRC's preliminary evaluation, the issues at Catawba could be categorized as high as yellow, which is one step below its highest safety level. Red is the highest level in the four-tier system.

No final decisions will be made at the conference.
