COLUMBIA (WACH) - Four vehicles were involved in a crash on I-126 Westbound Monday morning.

A spokesperson with the Columbia Police Department says the incident happened on an outbound bridge before 9 a.m. Monday. Only one lane of the interstate was open after the crash.

Police say two individuals were transported to the hospital. One person had minor injuries, the other went to the trauma unit. There were no reported fatalities as of 10:30 a.m. Monday.

According to authorities, the incident occurred when the first vehicle stopped because of a trash can in the roadway, a second vehicle rear-ended the first vehicle and a third vehicle hit the second vehicle. Finally, a fourth vehicle hit the third car, causing it to flip.

The interstate reopened to traffic around 10:30 a.m.
