CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Officials in Charleston are making an announcement concerning a major redevelopment project in the historic city.

Mayor Joe Riley and Medical University of South Carolina President Ray Greenberg are making the announcement Monday in Charleston concerning the Horizon Redevelopment Project.

The project seeks to revitalize an area between the city's medical complex and The Citadel along the Ashley River as an area to grow research and technology businesses.

The Horizon site is a 20-acre section of a larger redevelopment site. The site now is largely open space used for parking for The Citadel and the Medical University.
