COLUMBIA (WACH) - While the threat of severe weather will keep thousands from being able to watch President Barack Obama accept the Democratic Nomination in Charlotte, the Midlands community has the opportunity to watch live coverage of the event in Columbia.

The South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP) is inviting the community to the Columbia Convention Center for to watch President Obama accept the nomination.

A release from the SCDP says, "We won't let thunderstorms dampen our spirits."

The event is schedule to take place at 1101 Lincoln Streen in Columbia at 7:30 p.m.

There will be concessions available for purchase as well as a cash bar.

The Democratic National Convention Committee altered its original program planned for Bank of America Stadium on Thursday and moved it to inside Time Warner Cable Arena due to forecasts of severe weather in Charlotte.
