SUMTER, SC (WACH / AP) - A task force comprised of Sumter law enforcement agencies has been formed in an effort to apprehend whomever is responsible for killing a Sumter teen.

The Sumter Police Department announced the multi-jurisdictional task force Tuesday afternoon.

Officials with the State Law Enforcement Division, Clarendon County Sheriff's Office and Camden Police Department are working alongside Sumter Police Chief Russell Roark and Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis in this investigation.

Authorities say Sumter High School senior Aaron Abraham, 18,  was last seen on security camera footage leaving the Sumter County Library on July 19 as it closed. He appeared to be alone.

Police say his mother reported him as missing on July 22.

Abraham's body was found by a man collecting cans in a ditch off state Highway 261 near Wedgefield on August 22, which is about 14 miles from Abraham's last known location.

Roark and Dennis are also using social media and cyber tools to inform and solicit help from the community.
