Columbia, (WACH)--The Labor Day holiday gave many residents a chance to get some food, fun and dancing.
The city of Columbia is hosting the 9th annual Main Street Latin Festival on Sunday. The event began at 11 a.m. and runs till 10 p.m. Many different Latin countries were well-represented.
The Latin Festival is free to the public and offers various types of food, clothing shops, and other items. There was also music to dance to like salsa, reggaeton, and zumba. Thousands are expected to attend.
The event has become so popular, organizers say for the first time, they had to block off bother the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Main Street.
Festival President Denaro Padilla said it is a great chance to learn about the diversity within the Latino community.
"You want to learn what is going on around you, and what is going on around the city. The different cultures is a great thing for the city. The diversity is a great thing. So when people learn about all this. They can understand each other better."
