COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- A new federal credit union branch run entirely by students is opening on the University of South Carolina campus.

University spokeswoman French Brewer says the newest branch of the Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union is set to open Wednesday in the Russell House university union center.

Brewer says the new branch is run entirely by students from the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management.

The federal credit union is open to faculty, staff and students at the university and its branches around the state. It is also open to those at other institutions of higher learning in the state such as Coastal Carolina University, and technical schools such as Midlands Technical College.
