SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) -- Three children remain in the intensive care unit of the Medical University of South Carolina hospital in Charleston following a weekend hit-and-run in Summerville.

The Highway Patrol says four children ages 10 through 14 left a house in a subdivision east of town when they were hit about 11:30 p.m. Saturday. All were taken to the hospital and one was later released.

Authorities say the driver of the car did not stop after hitting the children.

Family members said the kids went outside to reach a Wi-Fi hotspot on their smartphones.
