CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The Citadel Board of Visitors is hiring two outside firms to investigate how the military school handled a complaint about a former camp counselor now serving 50 years in prison for molesting boys.

Board members met in executive session for three hours Friday with Columbia attorney Joe McCulloch, the attorney overseeing the independent investigation. The board voted to hire the firms of Manuel Daniels Burke International and Anne Franke of Wise Results LLC.

The investigation centers on how the college handled a 2007 complaint against Louis "Skip" ReVille, sentenced in June after pleading guilty to 22 counts of abuse.

ReVille was a Citadel camp counselor a decade ago when he allegedly showed campers pornographic videos. The college did an internal investigation of the complaint but did not notify the police.
