SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (WACH / AP) – Motorcycle safety is the name of the game for Army and Air Force units at Shaw Air Force Base, as they help service members learn safety on Friday.

Army spokeswoman Maj. Antoinette Baucom says Friday's event at the base is designed to determine whether service members follow safe riding practices.

Inspections will ensure that motorcycles are in good working order, safe riding practices will be explained, and an hour-long ride to Lake Wateree are all parts of the plan to help demonstrate safe riding habits.

Third Army commander, Lt. Gen. Vincent Brooks, members of the Air Force's 20th Fighter Wing and local law enforcement agencies are all participating in the event.
