CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- A man in jail in a shooting at a Charleston restaurant last month has now been charged with murder.

Eighteen-year-old Deonte Steve Brown of Ravenel was charged with murder Thursday.

Nineteen-year-old Dantaye Reed of Ravenel was killed in the shooting at a Waffle House restaurant July 15.

Brown already had been charged with attempted murder in the wounding of 28-year-old Quinton Allen of Johns Island at the restaurant.

Investigators say Brown shot Allen after they started fighting in the restaurant, then shot Reed outside the restaurant.

Charleston County sheriff's Maj. James Brady says investigators linked Brown to the death through ballistic tests on the bullets, which indicated they both came from the same gun.

It was not clear if Brown has a lawyer.
