(Lexington Co. WACH)-Law enforcement from all over the state were at Lake Murray Wednesday; but not for fun.
The Lexington County Sheriff's Department SWAT Team along with Beaufort, Anderson, and Greenville County Sheriff's Office and State Law Enforcement Division were training waterborne operations. The training is held every two years to make sure deputies know how to handle tactical operations in water.
They jumped out of helicopters and also entered the lake with boats. SWAT deputies like Jesse Laintz say although it is extremely rare, they must be ready for anything.
"We could have a hostage situation on one of these islands. We could have a suicidal individual on a boat. There are a lot of things on a dock leading to a house or an actual lake house itself. There are al to of situations that could lead to this. We just want to make sure we are capable of doing this."
Deputies received a simulated training at the USC recreation pool before arriving to Lake Murray.
