COLUMBIA (WACH) -- The Columbia Planning Commission held a monthly meeting Monday and on their agenda was the discussion of amending a zoning ordinance for the adult store Taboo.
In the past year Columbia City Council already made changes once to the ordinance due to responses from neighborhood associations about the adult store's location on Devine Street.
Tabbo currently obeys the zoning rules, but now planning officials want City Council to change the ordinance again, which could mean the adult store may have to move in time.
Krista Hampton the Director of Planning and Development Services said,"the impact it has on a business like Taboo currently, is that it allows them to continue for a two year period after which they will have to close the business or move into a zoning classification thats appropriate."
Wach Fox was unable to reach the manager of Taboo, but instead talked with an employee who gave us a copy of a petition with more than 250 signatures of people who are in support of the store.
City Council could potentially make changes to the zoning rules by mid September.
