AIKEN, S.C. (AP) -- The former Saluda County sheriff indicted earlier this summer on a misconduct in office charge is expected in court in Aiken County.

Prosecutors said Jason Booth should appear before a judge Monday morning. They refused to say what the hearing would be about.

Booth resigned from office in June after he was charged. Authorities say he used a state prison inmate to do work on his home and property for nearly six years.

Booth was elected sheriff in 2000, and had already decided not to run again this year when he was indicted.

If convicted of misconduct in office, Booth could face up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
