CHARLESTON (WACH/AP)- The Rev. Jesse Jackson and lawmakers from the South Carolina Lowcountry are calling for a ban on assault weapons after the movie theater shootings in Aurora, Colorado.

Jackson visited Charleston on Thursday and held a news conference with state lawmakers.

The civil rights leader says he doesn't object to people having guns at home for protection or for hunting.
