The former director of a nonprofit organization in Spartanburg has been accused of taking more than $40,000 for her own use.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) -- The former director of a nonprofit organization in Spartanburg has been accused of taking more than $40,000 for her own use.
Forty-four-year-old Karen Elizabeth Bradley of Spartanburg is charged with obtaining property under false pretenses.
She was executive director of TOTAL Ministries.
A police report says a board member of the ministry told police last month that an audit had revealed the Bradley had taken more than $40,000 between February and June.
Lt. Bernard Brewton says Bradley has not talked with investigators about the allegations. Her attorney, Mitch Slade, would not comment.
TOTAL Ministries provides financial assistance to people to buy medicine and deal with foreclosure or loss of utility services. It also helps people obtain identification documents for work or social services assistance.
Bradley left the ministry in March.
