FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) -- Carowinds has reopened its new WindSeeker ride a day after it had stranded about two dozen riders high in the sky.

The theme park that straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina state line had its 300-foot tall swing ride shut down around 10 a.m. Saturday with 25 riders aboard.

After nearly an hour, the ride lowered the passengers to about 30 feet in the air, where they were stranded for nearly two hours before getting back on the ground.

Carowinds said a sensor in the ride engaged, causing the safety system to activate.

Park officials say maintenance and safety workers adjusted the sensitivity of the safety brake and ran test cycles Saturday and Sunday before opening it to the public about noon Sunday.
