COLUMBIA (WACH) - Ray Tanner will be announced as the new University of South Carolina Athletics Director Friday.

WACH Fox Sports Director Ric Garni confirmed Thursday that Tanner will leave his baseball coaching position to take on a new role of leading the athletics department at the University of South Carolina

TheBigSpur.com first reported that University president Harris Pastides will announce Tanner as the new Athletics Director Friday afternoon at a press conference.

Tanner has been a collegiate head coach for 25 years and has coached the USC baseball team since 1996. The baseball team under coach Tanner won two national titles and played for a third before falling to Arizona at the College World Series in June.

Former Athletics Director Eric Hyman lead the athletic department for seven years before accepting the same position at Texas A & M last month.
