COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Columbia Police Department arrested a 17-year-old Friday in connection with a carjacking incident that occurred last Sunday.

Chief Randy Scott says Shyiem Marcel Brown is charged with carjacking, armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

According to police, Brown is accused of pointing a gun at a man who was sitting in a car on West Beltline Blvd. Sunday, July 1 before forcibly removing the man from the driver's seat and stealing the car. The victim did not require medical attention.

Brown was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center after his arrest Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
