MONTREAL, QÙEBEC (WACH, AP) - Former Gamecock Quarterback Stephen Garcia is continuing his football career in the Great White North.

According to the team's Facebook page,Garcia will play for the Canadian Football League's Montreal Alouettes.  Garcia originally looked to keep his career going in the NFL, but was not taken in the NFL draft in April. In a post on the Alouetts Facebook page, the team said," Quarterback Stephen Garcia has been added to the Alouettes roster. Details to come."

The Alouetts begin their season July 1 against Calgary.

Garcia took part in the Alouettes' camp in May.

He was suspended five times during his college career and was dismissed for good last October after failing a substance-abuse test. Garcia took part in South Carolina's pro day in March and expressed regret for his mistakes while in school.

Garcia threw for 7,597 yards, 47 touchdowns and 41 interceptions at South Carolina.
