COLUMBIA (WACH) - Hunting and fishing licenses for 2012-13 went on sale Monday.
Accordiing to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (DNR), licenses may be obtained multiple ways.
1. In person at any of the four regional DNR offices
2. In person through one of the more than 500 agents across the state
3. Over the telephone by calling 1-866-714-3611
4. Online at the DNR website
Licenses must be purchased by anyone 16 years of age to hunt and fish in South Carolina.
The license can be tailored to each sportsman with a variety of hunting and fishing privileges available. There are also several combination privileges and packages for anyone looking for the most bang for their buck.
DNR officials say persons born after June 30, 1979 must have successfully completed a hunter education course to obtain a hunting license. The course can be completed online.
According to the department, money obtained from licenses along with tax collected on hunting and fishing gear contributes funding to South Carolina's wildlife and sportfish restoration projects, which includes wildlife management, habitat management, research and education.
Licenses purchased will be valid through June 30, 2013.
