COLUMBIA (WACH) -- More than a dozen people are looking for a place to stay Sunday after a Columbia-area apartment complex goes up in smoke.

Columbia-Richland Fire Department officials say they responded to a fire at the Hampton Park Apartments on Blossom Street shortly before 7:00 pm Sunday.

Fire Department officials say eight apartment units were affected, leaving 13 people displaced and causing about $270,000 worth of damage.

The Red Cross is working with property management to find the affected residents somewhere to stay.

Officials say they believe unattended cooking is to blame for the fire.
