COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The House Ethics Committee has set the date and procedure for a public hearing on allegations that Gov. Nikki Haley illegally lobbied while a House member.

The process allows no direct participation for the person who brought the complaint.

The committee voted unanimously Thursday to approve an outline of the June 28 hearing. The vote followed a closed-door meeting.

The committee chose two lawyers with Willoughby & Hoefer to represent the House. Haley's lawyers will also make opening and closing statements and cross-examine witnesses.

The complaint by Republican activist John Rainey alleges Haley illegally lobbied in her jobs as a hospital fundraiser and consultant for an engineering firm. Haley has repeatedly denied doing anything wrong.

The committee voted last week to re-open the case, four weeks after dismissing it.
