ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- A South Carolina sheriff says two juveniles face charges after taking a school bus on a two-county joy ride chased by officers and then crashing into a brick wall.

The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg reports (http://bit.ly/L4DY5m) a 15-year-old in the bus had to have a foot amputated but is recovering at Palmetto Health Richland.

Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers said that child and a 12-year-old will be charged with failure to stop for a deputy's blue-light signal.

The suspects allegedly stole a school bus from Orangeburg Preparatory Schools and led law officers on a chase across Calhoun and Orangeburg counties early Tuesday.

Summers says the juveniles said they decided to switch who was driving the bus and crashed into the wall at an industrial building in Orangeburg.
