COLUMBIA (WACH) - Thirty-two school districts in South Carolina have high school seniors graduating without missing a single day of school through their entire academic careers, according to the South Carolina Department of Education.
According to Jay W. Ragley, Legislative and Public Affairs specialist for the department, Students are allowed by state law to miss up to 10 days of school per year, but 70 students in the graduating class of 2012 never missed a single one.
Ragley says that for the third consecutive year, Dorman High in Spartanburg 6 had the most of any single school with seven students.
The report shows that the Aiken County district came in second with six students never missing a day.
Midlands students from Richland 1, Lexington 1, Lexington 2, Newberry, Kershaw and Sumter were also recognized.
The department says that seniors with 12 years of perfect school attendance have been recognized since 1979. They receive certificats and congratulatory letters from State Superintendent of Education Mick Zais.
