CALHOUN COUNTY, SC (WACH) - A stolen school bus riding in the middle of the night led to an early  morning crash in Calhoun County.

According to Calhoun County Sheriff Thomas Summers, a Calhoun County deputy saw a school bus going through a rural part of Calhoun County about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday.  The deputy knew it was odd for a bus to be on the road so early in the day.  The deputy tried to pull the bus over, but the driver kept going.

The chase ended when the suspects ran the bus into a building at Zeus Industries near I-26. The wreck left one of the thieves in critical condition.

Authorities say the bus was stolen from Orangeburg Prepatory School. One person involved has had a foot amputated due to injuries received during the crash.
