ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Deputies say two men have escaped from the Anderson County jail after chiseling through concrete blocks.

Authorities said 35-year-old Jason Hughes of Toccoa, Ga., and 28-year-old Travis Foster of Anderson squeezed through the opening in the blocks into an office, where they pushed out an air conditioning unit and climbed a fence late Sunday night.

Deputies used dog teams to try to find the inmates, but they were still missing Monday afternoon.

Foster was awaiting trial for two charges of grand larceny, while Hughes was in jail charged with larceny and failure to stop for blue lights.

Sheriff John Skipper says the escape happened in an older part of the jail and a safety review will be conducted.
